
In a hospitality and catering sector saturated with regulatory requirements employers are burdened with the responsibility of ensuring their key staff are trained in the appropriate areas. As a chef you can make a potential employer’s decision to hire you an easier one by ensuring that when you arrive at your job interview by being able to answer “yes” to any question arising around whether you’re trained in the required areas. As an employer of chefs you’ve a responsibility to ensure they’re trained “commensurate with their role and responsibilities.” Making sure they have the required courses done prior to employment is one way of ensuring this but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to meet all your statutory responsibilities as an employer without having to arrange some training of your own from time to time.
