In the 2016 Michelin guide it is good news all round for Germany’s top restaurants. 2016 also marks the 51st anniversary of the first Michelin guide coverage of Germany.

First things first, Germany maintained its position as the top country, France aside, for three Michelin star restaurants in Europe. So then, that’s a total of ten Michelin 3 star restaurants, not too shabby when you compare it to the United Kingdom which has a more modest four.
Germany Michelin Stars in Numbers
A total of 28 restaurants (or more importantly 28 Chefs) received the thrilling news – that they had won their first Michelin star – and the German guide this year, overall, has two more starred restaurants than in 2015.
The numbers to remember are that in 2016 the Michelin guide Germany featured 292 starred restaurants, 10 with three stars, 39 with two stars and 253 with one star.
