José Andrés to become first Nobel Peace Prize winning chef?

Winning a Michelin star is nice! Winning a Nobel Peace Prize is something else and José Andrés  looks poised to become the first chef to win one. Andrés has just been nominated by politician John Delaney (D-Md.) who confirmed the nomination to the Washington Post.

Clare Smyth trashes restaurant critic

Surely there can be few ventures to induce both anxiety and fear to the extent of a new restaurant opening. Clare Smyth  is more than one of Britain’s greatest chefs, having helmed restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Michelin Three Star, for so many years she can justifiably claim to be one of the world’s greatest chefs. To be enabled to do this, I passionately believe that students need to be taught how to cook and vary their food choices. Keeping Chef Recruitment Costs low isn’t a “thing” it’s a strategy, a set of tactics, and most of all a state of mind. Some catering and hospitality businesses do this very well, and for others it is a constant struggle. The more noteworthy or outstanding your business, the less you are likely to struggle with Chef recruitment. 

Yet even noteworthy kitchens, and restaurants, are finding that the going is becoming tougher over time. Being noteworthy or highly praised as a destination dining business, while helpful, isn’t a passport to the land of the chef abundance. But chef abundance doesn’t begin and end with chef recruitment, the most important component is chef retention.

We’ve been working hard to provide chefs with free and, more importantly, user friendly Chef CV, Resume resources recently. Those CV resources, tips, advice, CV-Resume Schema and CV Template downloads, are elaborated upon in a few of our more recent blog posts. Two things made us aware of the need for better Chef CV, Resume resources:

  1. We often receive very bad, in some cases quite damaging, CV’s from really excellent chefs
  2. We get a lot of requests from chefs for help with CV’s
